APRIL 2008

The Ottawa Spring Antique Show was a great success. I focused on smaller decorative architectural items such as; a selection of tin panels with great surface (see pictures on Facebook) They came from the former Relax Restaurant in Brockville where they had been in hiding behind a drop ceiling for many years. A hundred years of cooking and tobacco smoke has given them a fantastic patina. (all that were taken sold) several white painted and rubbed back tin panels mounted on plywood (recycled of course!). Two sold. Two mirrors - one made with shutter slats the other, made with sections of small moldings (sold) shelves made with architectural trim. Three sold (two at closing time on Sun.) Stove pipe collars; took lots and sold lots. The show organizer Peter Sutherland used them as a promotional picture in the Ottawa Citizen and on posters.

Dioramas - I took eight or more of Penny's dioramas and five sold.

Spindle Fish - the current grouping are collectively titled "What Lurks Beneath. I took several and sold two.

I had lots of positive comments with many new people planning to visit me this summer. It was great to see so many of my regulars and I even met a few of my long ago Rocking Horse Antique customers from more then 25 years ago!

I will be participating in Up The Garden Path, an artists studio tour, this May 17 to 19 and May 24 and 25. This is a great studio tour with 13 studios and seventeen artists to visit throughout the region from the St. Lawrence River north into the countryside (where Balleycanoe is!) from Gananoque to just west of Brockville. For more information check out the Thousand Islands Arts website and go to tours. You can also take a look at some of the great things that the artists will be offering.

If you would like to be on my mailing list to hear about future Balleycanoe events please let me know.
